I always do have this strange love-hate relationship with Acer computers and notebooks. Never knew why.
Over the years, I've always been critising them for their reliability issues and their quality control problems. Yet deep down inside, I'm always been supporting their products, and hoping that one day, they will wake up one day and correct such issues. I thought the day came, when they released their Gemstone series. On the release date, I remembered specifically that I went to harvey norman which is umm, a tech store in singapore and fondled with it. Alas, the Gemstone was not the choosen one, as forum reviews and personal experiences with them tell.
Reading back up, I actually do sound like a hypocrite, first critising and next saying how much I adore Acer computers and notebooks. However, I suppose it's just due to my high expectations of the brand - I literally lived and grew up with it.
My first computer was an Acer, the first Acer Aspire to be exact. It had a 633mhz processor, which was fast as of 1999 standards, with 64mb of ram -- a very high amount of ram at those times. It never had any hardware issues or quality control issues, with the exception of a failed cd rom drive that spoilt, cause I placed a cracked Cd in it, and shards of Cd roms came cracking inside it. and it is still running today. This was the same case for my first laptop, which , as you can guess was also an Acer, the Aspire 5000 series bought in 2005. Both Acers, had impacted my life in many way, and I have used them extensively, from homewok related to entertainment. As such, I seemed to have developed a complicated relationship with them. Sorta like the relationship of a parent and a child -- where the parent would want their child to excel and perform & When they don't, they will be utterly disappointed.
Just a few days ago. Acer relased their Ferrari One netbook to the singaporean market, and it was a looker.

The life of a tall/ short one. (part 1)

There had been much hype over height going around class these few days, Where "everyone" seemed to be overly engrossed over how tall a random passer by is, and from the by process get looks of irritation (of course from the person being compared) and bemusement from on lookers who simply had no idea what "everyone" was trying to do.
I guess this all started one fine friday when "everyone" was comparing how short i was with, a girl that was queueing up to get drinks... and of course after that particular incident, I was constantly reminded by "everyone" as to how short I was.. and well, "how tall", "everyone" was.
Anyway, the thought of how tall I was had never really come across in my mind -- as I'm contented with my shape and form-- not to tall, and not too short -- not too fat, nor too thin --just nice!
Though, it's really a particularly interesting topic to think about! "What if I'm short!" as in, real short, probably 1.40m give or take...
Here's my comical take on being well, short . As you know, a typical Polytechnic student goes out to school when the sun rises, and returns home when the sun's about to set -- typically peak hours when the trains are cramped with people.
On a positive note, being in a crowded train full of tall people does have it's advantages when you are short -- you would not be caught drinking water --which carries a fine of up to $500 -- That's if, you do still have the appetite to drink it.
Blogger's note:
There's only one person in class who's engrossed in how tall someone is. (: Try guessing who he is (opps, i let off an important hint). Well.. this is meant to be a fun post. I dont really mind about being teased.. nor, i m trying to take revenge on "everyone" who.. well is co-incidentally the same height as me. (opps..yet another spoiler. )
I will add more comical takes as this interesting topic goes by.. (and if i could think of more) well for now .. stay tuned for part 2.. :)
